AXA Investment Managers boosts Structured Finance team with new senior hire
April 24, 2018 — AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) announced today the appointment of Matt Leventhal as Senior Portfolio Manager within the Structured Finance team. Matt will be based in Greenwich, CT, reporting to Jean-Philippe Levilain, Global Head of Leveraged Loans and Private Debt.
Matt joins AXA IM from River Birch Capital, where he was responsible for analyzing and sourcing global high yield, stressed and distressed credit opportunities with a focus on the European market. Prior to that, he held various leadership roles within European Leveraged Loan Trading and US High Yield Trading for over six years at Barclays. Matt also brings extensive expertise in the credit markets from his trading roles at both RBS and ABN AMRO in London. Matt earned an MBA with concentrations in Finance, Economics and Accounting from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University.

Matt will be responsible for the portfolio management of open-ended funds, mandates, and CLOs mainly invested in Leveraged Loans, in partnership with AXA IM’s team of Research Analysts and Loan Traders. In addition to daily portfolio monitoring, Matt will contribute to the sourcing of assets, help maintain relationships with key banks/brokers, conduct and cascade credit market analysis, and support the development of new Leveraged Loan strategies.
